Will the government will provide more funding for renewable energy as a result of the Gulf Oil disaster ?

I think Obama pragmatically decided in the past to allow more coastal drilling strictly because our country had no other choice. Our country is currently importing 2/3's of the oil it uses which negatively impacts both our economy and national security. As a result of this disaster there will be more safeguards set up to prevent future enviromental and economic disasters . Drilling will have to continue in some form offshore. IMHO  the primary result of this disaster will be an increased push in congress for renewable energy.

Obama favors the development of renewable energy already. He's a politician and he'll use the current Gulf disaster to push his agenda to increase usage of renewable energy..

Oil companies still receive subsidies and Obama's Muslim brothers need his support to sell their polluting fossil fuel. Islam and Islamic terrorism run on oil. Not to mention the CFR and those above them.

So Obama is buttering his bread on both sides.
